The mission and purpose of AWGA....
There are no residency restrictions for membership. Our membership consists of golfers throughout the metroplex.
AWGA has a long history of members and champions - AWGA was formed in August 1952 by nine ladies playing at the only course in the City of Arlington - "little" Meadowbrook. In 1961, when Lake Arlington Golf Course opened, play was moved from Meadowbrook to Lake Arlington and the name of the club changed to Lake Arlington Women's Golf Association. In 1970 an annual 18 hole Club Championship Tournament was begun. In 1974 LAWGA hosted the Texas Women's Public Links Golf Association (now the Texas Women's Amateur Golf Association) state tournament with our own, Sammie Keel, winning the championship. Chester Ditto Golf Course opened in 1982 and in 1983, LAWGA began alternating between the two courses and changed the name of the club back to Arlington Women's Golf Association (AWGA). The club celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2017. With the opening of Texas Rangers Golf Course in 2019, the club now alternates play between Lake Arlington, Tierra Verde & Texas Rangers Golf Courses.
There are no residency restrictions, anyone can join AWGA. If you don't have an established GHIN you can play as a guest 3 times and acquire one. Email us at arlingtonwomensgolfassociation@gmail.com if you have any questions, or download our application and come & join us. Social Memberships are also available for past members that no longer play golf, but want to continue staying in touch and being involved with AWGA.
